Another Week I’m Especially Glad not to be a Democrat; a Liberal in particular

By: Steve Yuhas

As scandal ridden Democrats huddled in closed door meetings to figure out how to get rid of Representative William Jefferson (D-LA) over the frozen assets worth around $90,000 in his freezer (I must attribute the ‘frozen asset’ remark to Randy Hall of CNSNews.com) and were trying to figure out how to stop Ann Coulter from doing the unthinkable (they failed) of leaping to the top of the New York Times bestseller list – I realized how happy I was to be a conservative.

Americans awoke to the news on Thursday that the raid that killed al Qaeda leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi also netted Iraqi and coalition forces what the Iraqi National Security Advisor called a “huge treasure” of intelligence.  Democrats moaned because that was the day that leaders in the Democratic Party decided to debate the Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) and Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) plan of cut and run in Iraq.

The problem is that the facts got in the way of what liberals wanted America to perceive as reality and as Democrats were faced with explaining their vote to cut and run from Iraq the people of Iraq and a unified government were unveiling documents that showed that the Zarqawi network was in serious trouble; not because of al Qaeda or internal squabbles, but because of the coalition forces.  The Americans, Brits and Iraqis are beating terrorists in Iraq and Zarqawi lamented it and how troubling that Democrats picked the same day as al Qaeda’s problems became public to push for an early exit from Iraq and give al Qaeda what they were seeking.

Needless to say (well for conservatives anyway) is that it was not a good day to have a cut and run amendment on the table in the legislature because it failed - miserably.

Then there is the President’s approval rating: up.  Any time the President’s approval rating goes up there is something to explain it, but the internals of the polls don’t get it because the internals of the polls don’t say why – they say the opposite.  Democrats are stymied and have no clue how to respond to an electorate that is seemingly looking for change, but is happy about what is happening now.  Democrats are scratching their heads wondering what to do because they have to pretend that good news for America is good news for them, but in reality - it's not!

Add to the fact that the Democrats have even more black Republicans running from the Democratic plantation in states like Ohio, Maryland and North Carolina and there is nothing more to say except that this was not a good last couple of days or weeks to be a liberal.

Liberals were exposed in Ann Coulter’s new book Godless: The Church of Liberalism and the mainstream media hooked themselves on the part of the book that provides them the most cover in times of national debate – and it will prove their downfall.  It used to be that throwing up a victim to advocate for a liberal cause was a great thing – nobody could respond and everyone just had to say okay.

Not anymore because just as Coulter came out with the book and liberals denied every bit of it – out came the father of beheaded American Nick Berg who said he was not impressed or even joyful about the man who killed his sons.  “He had a mom and dad” and liberals cried and patted Michael Berg (now running for Congress and off limits to questions because of his loss) on the back, but dared not question him further.  He is a victim - his son had his head cut off by a guy who was killed by coalition forces and all his father had to say was he had a mom and dad too.  Is that strange or sick?  I can't decide.

One would think that even a tree hugging Green Party liberal would think that Zarqawi's death was a good thing - especially if he chopped off your son's head - but not in the new Democratic Party.

Doesn't this just take you back to the Menendez jury when a woman became so conflicted about convicting the confessed killers of their parents that she actually made mention of them not having parents anymore; thus her inability to convict.  THEY KILLED THEIR PARENTS, but this Los Angeles liberal felt sorry for the parentless duo.  Huh?

Being a liberal is hard enough: they really don’t believe in anything (except themselves – I suggest you read Godless), they have a culture of corruption of their own to worry about when they wanted to run on it in November (note to Democrats: corruption cuts both ways and a candidate in the 50th Congressional district was undone by telling illegal aliens they didn’t need papers to vote and then there all the Democrats in jail or holding cold hard cash in their offices (again: attribution to Randy Hall), they chose to vote to cut and run on the same day that Iraqis were talking about the successes in Iraq (nobody voted for it) and add the sadness of being liberal that must happen every day when they realize that Air America is going bankrupt and everyone is watching Fox News and it must have been a very bad week indeed.

I’m happy to be a conservative every day because I know that when our guys do wrong they’re held to account (Duke Cunningham used to be my representative, now he is in the pen and that Democrat above was beaten by Brian Bilbray) and put in jail and removed from their powerful positions.  Democrats are sitting in trees to save the environment and the former Vice President of the United States, Al Gore, is a Hollywood star who will probably take home an Oscar for his dimwitted look at global warming (he will get to the Oscars in a bullet proof SUV following his private plane ride to a 20,000 square foot mansion to spend the weekend in).

You see – conservatives are not hypocrites and we actually live up to what it is to be human – sometimes we fail and when we do we get back up and fight; when liberals fail they blame someone or something else all together and pretend like it didn’t happen.  Their timing is terrible and their ethics leave something to be desired.  Lord knows we all have failings - I certainly have - but I don't attribute them to anything other than my own personal flaws that I grew out of; liberals rise in the ranks when they make mistakes and then blame it on society.

Granted, it must be fun to be a liberal: no responsibility, nothing to be in charge of, love for raising taxes and spending it on pet projects and the idea that America is to blame for all of the problems in the world, but at the end of the day - how exhausting and sad it must be to look at your own country as the bad guy and the people in your own party as infallible.  Too bad their flaws are exposed by people in pajamas (yes, the bloggers) and their comeuppances swift and painful.
