Israel at War: Eurpoean Union Sides with Hitler - Hezbollah not a Terrorist Group in EU

By: Steve Yuhas

Typical of the United Nations Kofi Annan called for an immediate halt of fighting in Lebanon and Israel after Hezbollah (an organization backed by Syria and Iran) continued bombing civilians in Israel.  The request comes despite the fact that Hezbollah terrorists started the conflict, but continues a long line of anti-Semitic UN steps to immunizing terror groups from punishment.  Following Annan (and some previously) were other anti-Semitic governments like Spain, France and Russia saying that Israel has gone too far and that terrorism should be tolerated by Israel.

Spain’s Prime Minister, the leftist who won an election after Islamic fanatics bombed Madrid, outraged many in the world after he donned an Arab headdress to show solidarity with the Palestinian people; France is France and does what she does best (outside of surrendering) and came out against Israel quite early and Russia believes that there is more to the fight than meets the eye.

I wonder if President Putin of Russia, the same Russia fighting Islamic extremists in Chechnya, believes that it is going too far to carpet bomb Chechen cities in order to keep Islamic fanatics out of Moscow.  Someone should really ask the new Soviet dictator (yes, I used Soviet intentionally before you write).

Even the Pope chimed in about how terrible it is that civilians are being killed in Lebanon by Israel (Pope Benedict should consider that Israeli casualties are lower because the Israeli Defense Forces, IDF, do not hide behind civilians like Hezbollah does) and he called for a cease fire.  Please note that Pope Pius XII didn’t care about the slaughter of Jews during WWII in Europe; it seems policies never change in the Catholic Church (anti-Semitism and pedophilia - mainstays of the Vatican).

Truth be told – there are some nations and organizations in the world and regions where anti-Semitism will never go away and the Israelis will always be wrong no matter what the conditions.

Forget the Vatican for a minute (their actions and words are enough to paint them as anti-Semitic) and turn your attention to the region that gave us the most recent Holocaust of Jews: Europe.  The European Union came out on July 20, 2006 and announced that it will not add Hezbollah to the list of terrorist organizations in the world. Read that again: according to the European Union’s High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy, Javier Solana, the EU disagrees with the tactics of Hezbollah, but finds it “unnecessary” to add the group to the list of terror organizations taking shape in the EU.

According to the Europeans the Irish Republican Army, the Kurdistan Worker’s Party and the Orange Volunteers are all terrorist groups (hardly well known for their destructive works around the world), but Hezbollah is not evil enough to make it on the list.  Before September 11, 2001 Hezbollah was the terror group responsible for more deaths of more Americans than any other terror group in the world, but to the EU Hezbollah is just another club with presumably the same status as the Boy Scouts.

I take that back – the Boy Scouts have no right to meet in public places because they believe in G-d and won’t allow homosexuals to be Scout leaders, but Hezbollah can use EU facilities all over the world and Hezbollah leaders can travel freely.

Even after Hezbollah started a war between two sovereign nations, even after it has been shown time and time again that the group is a proxy (a puppet) of Iran and Syria and even after the taking of Israeli soldiers, the bombing of Israeli civilians and striking terror in the minds of people the world over – the EU decided that Hezbollah is not a terror group. Hezbollah defines terror, but the EU refuses to define Hezbollah as terrorist.  Amazing.

One could have predicted the likely suspects lining up to criticize Israel for her actions in the region, but after all of that one would have thought that even the Europeans would classify Hezbollah as a terrorist organization, but they don’t.  To the EU Hezbollah is just another group of people struggling for freedom against the Zionist entity of Israel – they only call for the killing of Jews across the world and talk about their wiping Israel off the map. What's the big deal?  Apparently nothing in the EU.

It is only Israel, only Jews and we know the record that the Europeans have about Jews so it is typical and predictable that they’d take this position. You would have thought that after WWII that Europe would classify any group that wanted to do what Hitler wanted to do a terrorist organization, but it must be that the EU believes Hitler was right?

A group starts a war, hides behind civilians, shoots innocent Israelis and calls for more violence against Israel and still the EU cannot agree that Hezbollah is a terrorist group.  The Vatican must be ringing bells in glee that Jews are once again on the list of people to be exterminated – the picture of Pius XII has come out of storage for Nazi sympathizers to pay homage to when they visit the Holy See.

Hezbollah is a terrorist entity and this struggle between the EU and the world to decide whether or not a group that has missiles and bombs targeting civilians in Israel is terrorist or not compared to the groups it recognizes as terrorist in nature is striking.  Any group that opposes a government in Europe is listed; any group that targets the Jews is amazingly absent (except for the obvious ones of course – ones that the EU had to put on their list out of simple logic).

This is yet another reason that Israel should be allowed to continue her offensive against Hezbollah.  If any group were lobbing missiles or rockets into any European country would be instantly added to a listing of terrorists and would be retaliated against, but not true when it involves Israel.  Imagine if Spain were being bombed with rockets from her border with Portugal by a group without a name – Spain would either want to talk it out (because in Europe you can reason with terrorists) or would, hopefully, defend herself, but G-d only knows with the leftist in charge of that country.

As the world watches the beginning of the next Holocaust in the form of rockets and bombings from Hamas and Hezbollah and as Syria and Iran continue arming the group the world should take note that Israel has a long memory and so do people who were wronged by Europeans in the not so distant history.

It is one thing to question whether or not a new group with four members that independently blows up a few trains or buses in Europe is a terrorist group, but to not add Hezbollah to a list of terror organizations by the EU is the moral equivalent of the Nuremberg Laws and Israel should be forever reluctant to talk to the EU or UN and should continue to attack Hezbollah whether or not their name appears on a list from the EU.

The question must now be asked of European leaders: what does it take for a group to be labeled a terrorist group? I, for one, cannot wait for the answer, but only hope that it takes on a better logic than the one put forward by the EU thus far because as it stands now - not even al Qaeda meets their definition (but it is on the list - maybe it is only listed if it only targets Israel).

Pope Pius would be proud.
